Meopham started off like a train in this 20 over cup match. Like last year Old Dartechs looked as if they were going to be severely embarrassed. Hoever almost unbelievably the bowling attack clawed old Dartechs back into the match, principally because of some truly excellent wicketkeeping by Andy Steene, taking 2 cathces and another brilliant stumping. Martin, deputizing for Richard Coverely, bravely brought himself on at the end, and also took 2 wickets, restricting Meopham to 126 , when it looked like a score of 200 or more was more likely.
Old Dartechs were unable to capitalise on this good fielding performance however , and the batting failed again. Steve Lawton played well for 26, but only Clive and Adam Deal also reached double figures. In a better season the batting side put out, would have reached this total I’m sure, and this made the loss doubly disappointing.
