Match Report
20/06/1999 v LUTON VILLAGE
lost
Old dartechs suffered the loss of Jock Steene just before the match to an injured toe and this together with a couple of "no shows" meant that the side was severely depleted. Steve Lawton opened the batting with Tony Day and produced his first major innings since returning to the club after a gap of about 15 years. Steve hit a succession of fours on his way to 22 and Tony contributed 20 in a stand of 47 for the first wicket. Steve Jones was caught behind for a duck, but Richard Coverly played sensibly and went on to score a seasons best of 31. Neil Woodham made a useful contribution of 21, but Adam ruined his average of over a hundred when he failed to trouble the scorers. Quite how Jonathan managed to be not out again in a team of 8 players batting first is a mystery
