Match Report

27/06/2015 v Hythe and Dibden

lost

Josh Mead 36* starred in a thrilling last ball T20 win vs Old Dartechs from Kent.

Hythe were chasing 152 to win Richie Froggett made 41.

On a pleasant evening @ Jones Lane ~ Hythe welcomed Kent touring side Old Dartechs from Kent.

Traffic hold ups meant a late start but we got 40 overs in and a cracking match took place.

Old Dartechs batted first and T.Froggatt & N.Priddy got them off to a useful start 26 off 2.3 when Priddy was caught by Mead off Chalky White for 9.

Froggatt with 9x4's & a six clouted 44 before he was out with the score on 81 ~ Richie Froggett the bowler. At the half way stage O.D's were 86 for 2. S.Rogerson & M.Cardelli then took the score to 115 before Rogerson was bowled by Nicholas for 23, who then snapped up Redpath for 2.

M.Cardelli was then run out for a fine 28 with the score 140-5 in the 19th over. O.D's finished their innings on 151-5 from their 20 overs. Nicholas 2-12 the pick of the Hythe bowlers.

Hythe opened with first teamers Page & Hodge and a shock for the Green Caps saw Hodge out LBW to Rogerson for 12, Bowman followed out for 3 and when Roberts was bowled for 10 Hythe were 40-3 off 5.3 overs.

Page then fell for 16 bowled by Rogerson. That brought Froggett & Josh Mead together and the pair added 52 in just 5.3 overs. Froggett then fell for 41 inc 6x4's and a six. Nicholas was then bowled for 3 ~ Hythe 115-6 needing 37 off 36 balls.

Tom Jones 7 added a useful 22 runs with Mead as the game got tight. White made 7 before he was caught off Denman for 7.

Hythe needed 10 off the final over which saw Rollinson with a bruised hand out caught off Denman for 0 but Mead made sure of the win with two well run singles.

A great evenings cricket and well done to the visitors for a nice evening. For them Rogerson 4-34 was the pick of the bowling.

I'd like to add that it was even more dramatic than they put in their report - 10 was required off the last over Tim Cardelli (see report) had miscounted his overs and left us with an over to spare and no one to bowl it - James (W) Denman (slightly) reluctantly volunteered unfortunately 8 were scored off his firts 3, then a wide was bowled meaning the scores were tied.
