07/05/2000 v WILMINGTON

lost

The first game of the season found the Dartechs bowlers in generous mood as Wilmington got off to a fast start. New skipper Coverly and Bob moore both going for more than four an over, whilst old stalwart jason Allen fared little better. It was left to Neil Priddy to put a brake on proceedings as he took a wicket from his first ball, and two further wickets in a spell of 8 overs.

Meanwhile the Wilmington opener Howard was on his way to a score of 88 not out, and with useful contributions from Timmy Laidlaw and Ramperad, Wilmington reached a total of 1777 from just 37 overs. Martin Smith picked up some useful late order wickets, but paid a price of nearly 5 runs an over.

The Old Dartechs innings started badly, and with the loss of Steve Lawton and Andy Steene, both bowled by Gullerhan for 1, they were 8 for 2 after 5 overs. Worse was to come as Jason and Neil went cheaply. A mid innings revival was lead by Bob Moore and the Deals, Andy and Adam. Martin Smith going in at 10 also put up a struggle, but in the end Old Dartechs succumbed in 31 overs for a poor score of 74.

Get yourselves a proper opener next week lads…..
