30/05/1999 v MONTROSE

lost

On a cold damp May day Old Dartechs made a terrible start against Montrose. The pitch was playing badly and the hard ball made batting early on very difficult. The first five batsmen were all bowled by Sullivan making the most of inconsistent bounce. Adam Deal came in at number 5 having only been out once all season and he continued his good form. Unfortunately none of the other batsmen stayed with him until Paul Baker was pressed in to service as an emergency no 11. The pair went on to smash the clubs' 10th wicket partnership taking the score from 65 to 144. This beats the existing record of 58 by Chris Jones and Richard Greenwood which has stood since 1985. Not only did Adam score his first ever 6 (with a straight drive over the bowlers head) he went on to score his first ever 50.

Once again Old Dartechs were short of bowling , but if a steepling catch off the second ball had been held, things may have been different. As it was Montrose lost only 3 wickets as they scored the required runs in only 22 overs.
