lost

Chairmans game ends in persistant rain , with Bob's team on top

just a quick summary of yesterdays game 1st peg one the toss with help from his boy guessing the right finger. He decided to bat it was raining and Tony Day opened with Chris Jones at the other end clive and the ace opened and were soon in disarray as they went for a quick single that wasn’t there and the ace was the 1st victim of the day going for not a lot. In came Tim who made a go of it but he to was under pressure from good bowling from the oldies in the chairman’s X1 including Adrian Tibby who hasn’t played for 12 yrs +paul allen who don t play much. Then came peg to bat against his old adversaries and he settled the juggernaught to a certain degree .scoring a good 50+ after around 25 over’s in came matt and Billy and it was Billy who scored a really good I think 27 off 18 balls well done Billy, to give the techs a reasonable score .by the way johnny mac weeny gave a great display behind the stumps and looked 10 yrs younger than his 65 yrs we decided no tea until after the match as it was still raining, we opened with tibby and of all people Andy May better known as a number 10 bat .they stood around for 4-5 over’s when Tibby was out in came Chris Jones and the pair soon mastered the bowling soon it was 14-15 over’s gone and rain was getting heavier so we came to the conclusion that we had to get 18 in 3 over’s under the Duckworth rule. We were well on target to win the match at around 4 per over in any case with 8 wickets in hand. On came the ace and we were thinking its going to be hard but hero Andy and Chris rattled 18 in less than 2 over’s to secure a resounding victory for the chairman’s X1 who were congratulated with vigour at the close of play we all retired to the bar and had a good old chinwag of tours and times gone past teas 7out of ten and man of the match Andy May for scoring 37 not out and bowling peg middle stump runner up peg 50 + well done you two hard luck of the day Stuart who was batting well and was bowled by a ball that never left the ground.
