Match Report

17/07/2005 v MONTROSE

.

A very hot day saw Clive and Adam open up against some very fast bowling on a green topped pitch. Fresh from scoring his maiden ton, Adam lasted just 2 balls. Clive and Anthony saw off the openers, not without alarm, but Anthony soon started to make use of the very fast outfield. Not that he needed it for one very big six which broke a window on the third floor of the residential block, and it was still going up. Clive fell to a ball that lifted steeply, and Anthony departed fairly soon after. Neil played a solid innings, but there was little or no contribution from the rest of the side, and the score of 161 was distinctlly below par.

When Montrose batted, Crouch was dropped by first ball, and even though a wicket was taken the next over, this was the pivotal moment of the game. Crouch went on to score a well deserved maiden century and received good support from Grant. The match was played in much better spirti than the last one, but I still can't see the relevance of "keep it on the dancefloor". Many years ago we played against a team of West Indians (Moonshot), and they kept shouting "the beans are hot", don't know why. Think it may have been due to what they were smoking.
